Sea turtle's life is a circle of romantic odessey. Across the Pacific, returns with unerring instinct to her birth coast to lay her eggs. Yet, as human development erases their nesting shores, these gentle mariners face extinction.
On April 9, 2019, a turtle mom was found laying eggs on the airplane runaway at Maafaru Airport, as her home cosat was turned to an airport.

Ruiqi was seaking a media to express the romantic “life cycle” and the fact that the turtle mom returns to the same shore but found everything has changed. Then Ruiqi thought of the Mobius strip - a “circle” with its beginning and end appear as one, yet diverge into starkly different realms, turtles embark on a familiar journey, only to be greeted by unfamiliar shores.
With this inspiration, Ruiqi decided to make a sculpture that the black “buildings” gradually pop up along with the strip. Meanwhile, there is sand covering the starting point, but when walk around the Mobius Circle, you will find that the starting point has changed from soft sand to sharp buildings.
