Spirit is an experimental dance motion capture animation inspired by the traditional dance of the Dai ethnic minority in China. Drawing from common imagery in Dai dance, such as mountain spirits, landscapes, and peacocks, the project collaborates with a guest dancer to explore the integration of ethnography, traditional dance, motion capture, and digital media art. The work is presented in a single continuous shot, offering an innovative interpretation of traditional culture and theatrical aesthetics. Additionally, the creator is particularly interested in achieving seamless and natural scene transitions in theatrical productions, an idea that is actively explored in this piece.
